Mastering Association Meetings
Board Member Training Class
Resurgens Plaza – 14th Floor Classroom
12:00 PM – 1:30 PM (Lunch provided)
September 18, 2019
Instructor:
George E. Nowack, Jr.
Class Description:
Late fall and early winter are the seasons for more than just the traditional holidays. They are also the seasons for community associations to hold annual meetings. Budgets are presented and elections of Board members are conducted. Most annual meetings go off without a hitch, but when challenges arise they create discord amongst the members and, increasingly, lawsuits against the association. This class will identify the most common challenges to annual meetings and simple ways to avoid them. Topics that will be discussed will include notices, proxies, quorums, ballots, recounts, handling motions from the floor during a meeting, as well as what can happen if elections are conducted without a quorum.
