Shelby is a highly accomplished Legal Counsel with broad legal acumen and a history of providing counsel to government and private organizations across a twelve-year career. In addition to an education in construction management, Shelby is a licensed attorney in both Georgia and Arizona, a Georgia Real Estate Agent, and a Georgia Registered Neutral.
Most recently, Shelby worked and served in a dual capacity as Asset Manager and General Counsel for a small real estate development firm operating in the metro Atlanta market conducting a broad range of real estate business including residential and commercial new construction and renovation; ownership and portfolio management of single-family homes, multi-family units, and commercial rentals; lending of a private real estate investment fund and various real estate investment ventures.
From 2013 to 2018, Shelby was employed by the State of Georgia, first as an Assistant Attorney General with the Georgia Department of Law, and later as associate counsel for the Integrated Agencies of the Georgia State Properties Officer comprised of the Georgia Building Authority, Georgia State Financing and Investment Commission and Georgia State Properties Commission. As associate counsel, Shelby routinely negotiated leases for state office space, reviewed proposed legislation, and drafted agency policies, contracts, and responses to the Georgia Open Records Act.
While in Tucson, Arizona, Shelby served as an Assistant Attorney General in the Child and Family Protection Division, Child Support Services Section of the Arizona Office of the Attorney General managing a caseload of over two hundred cases, participating in approximately twenty Arizona Superior Court hearings and ultimately being selected as 2013 Attorney of the Year for her division.
Shelby began her career as a Program Analyst for the Georgia Senate Budget and Evaluation Office working directly with State Senators to develop budget recommendations for the Georgia
Senate Appropriations Committee and drafting budget-related legislation related to the areas of criminal justice, the judicial branch, and public safety.
Ms. Perdue graduated with her Juris Doctor from the University of Mississippi and a Bachelor of Science in Building Construction, summa cum laude, from Auburn University. Shelby lives with
her husband and daughter in the North Druid Hills area of Atlanta.
